Shannon James is the Assistant Registrar, Veterans & Special Populations at Salisbury University located in Salisbury, MD. Shannon has served as a Representative at Large with AVECO since 2019.
Shannon is originally from Baltimore, MD where at the age of 18 she enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. She served as a Boatswains Mate for 12 years. Once separated from the USCG, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from College of Charleston in Charleston, SC. Upon graduation, Shannon moved back to MD where she received her master of science in Applied Health Physiology from Salisbury University.
After graduating from SU, Shannon worked for a non-profit organization that served homeless veterans through a VA funded grant program, she then moved on to the VA healthcare system where she worked as an outreach technician for the local Vet Center. Shannon landed at SU in 2017, where she started as the Veterans Coordinator, and moved to Assistant Registrar in 2021.
