Michelle Hill's current role at The CDL School is to oversee all compliance for the Veterans Education Benefit programs including establishing policies and procedures, submission of catalogs, the certification process for all locations, and communication to senior leadership of all changes in laws and or regulations.
She has worked in higher education since 2005 with her beginning origins as a financial aid advisor and School Certifying Official with various schools in Nevada. In addition, she assisted several non-college degree schools as a consultant both in operations and accounting practices. In 2016 she became the State Approving Agent (SAA) in Nevada and served in that role until moving to Virginia in July 2021. She continued her work as an SAA until August 2023 in which she ventured back into the private sector.
During her time as an SAA, she was actively engaged with the National Association of State Approving Agencies and served in various roles including President, Vice-President, Vice-Chair of the Legislative Committee, Communications Chair, Lead of the Risk-Based Survey launch, and more.
Although she is not a veteran, she sees serving veterans and their families as her way of paying it forward and has dedicated her career to helping students, their families, and schools navigate the VA Education Benefit space. As a new AVECO board member, she is excited to bring her knowledge and experience to helping others.
Michelle earned her B.S in Administration and M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix as well as holds an MS degree in Accounting from Western International University.
