Andrea Wheeler has dedicated 20 years to higher education, serving in both the public and private sectors. She began her career in admissions and has spent the past 19 years in financial aid, specializing in default management, advising, loan processing, and veteran education benefits.
For the past 15 years, Andrea has served as a VA School Certifying Official (SCO)first as a Program Coordinator at Waubonsee Community College, and now as a Senior Analyst with DeVry University. In her current role, she focuses on the compliance side of VA certification, supporting institutional approvals, reporting organizational changes, monitoring state and federal policy updates, and coordinating survey participation for 14 campuses across seven states.
Andrea has been an active member of the AVECO Board of Directors since 2015, serving in multiple leadership roles including Member-at-Large, Treasurer, Secretary, and President.
Outside of work, Andrea is a proud mom of two extraordinary boys and wife to an amazing husband. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and planning their next travel adventure, preferably to Disney!
